Barry the Alien Lands in Beer

Children at Puffins Pre School and the Reception class at Beer Primary School were thrilled to welcome a very special visitor this week − Barry the Alien – along with his creator, local children’s author Heather Moresby.

The visit gave children the chance to take part in an interactive morning of learning, storytelling and cooking, inspired by Barry and his human friend, Faye. Using recipes from the story, the children rolled up their sleeves to peel, chop and mix ingredients for Barry’s famous Spaceship Stew (which they enjoyed for lunch) before tucking into Eggy Bread for a stellar snack.

Heather then treated the children to a reading of her book with plenty of help from Barry himself. The young audience eagerly asked questions and proudly shared how much they had enjoyed preparing – and eating – the alien-inspired dishes. Barry’s magical light-up ears caused particular excitement, as did the chance to try different hats perched on top of his alien antennae.
